Why don't conservatives get that it's not 1984? People now want to tax the rich to maintain services?

I am willing to compromise. You can raise the taxes on the rich as long as the 47% of the population that pays nothing starts kicking in their fair share as well. Maybe get rid of the earned income tax credit. The truth is that when you try to take away money from the rich they have the resources to fight confiscation by creating tax shelters or moving their money overseas (like the Kennedy's). Raising the tax rates doesn't solve the underlying problem, the government needs to stop spending more than they receive in taxes. Until they show that they are going to be fiscally responsible giving them more money is stupid.
