Is it possible to live a life without friends, but still being mentally stable/healthy?

I'm a very boring and introverted person. I usually can't talk about anything that else aside from school and science. As a result, I've always been friendless, but I've never been depressed or saddened. I guess I prefer my own company and feel best relaxed with my nose in the books in my room, alone. Is it possible I have a mental/psychological disorder? Seeing as it is not human nature to prefer being alone and non social, and thus not normal. If not, would it be possible to live my life like this? Wouldn't the social interactions I undertake at work after I graduate college suffice in terms of socializing?
