Christians, what does it mean to say God/Yahweh/Jehovah is Omni-benevolent?

In his city of God Augustine exerts the doctrine that everyone, all humanity are sinners and as such only some of them will be saved and take place in heaven, but it is up to God to decided who is to be saved and it is not valued on what works you have done or not done, but the benevolence of God alone. This is the doctrine of predestination spoken of by Augustine and reinstated by Calvin. Thus we cannot do anything to placate God or to please God, what will be will be, we just have to wait and see
